Question: What were the key aspects for the Underground Railroad to function as efficiently as it did?
Introduction
The Underground Railroad was established to help runaway slaves during the abolitionist movement in America during the mid 1800's. The fact that slavery was legal and had been for so many years lead both African Americans and Caucasians to start fighting to end slavery by working together. What was at stake for all who participated was a unifying factor for all, that lead to the freedom of hundreds of slaves. The key aspects that allowed the Underground Railroad to function efficiently were Harriet Tubman, physicality, and the motivation of the participants.
